Draft Industrial Wastewater Permit Issued to Quaker City Plating

The Brunswick-Glynn Joint Water & Sewer Commission has issued a Draft Industrial Wastewater Permit (IWP) to one (1) local industry, pursuant to City of Brunswick & Glynn County Sewer Use Ordinance at Chapter 2-16-41, Article III, of the City of Brunswick & Article III, Section 22-41of of Glynn County Ordinances.

Draft IWP was issued to Quaker City Plating, 2573 Sidney Lanier Drive, Brunswick, GA 31525.  This industry discharges process wastewater to the Academy Creek wastewater collection system.  The Brunswick-Glynn Joint Water & Sewer Commission Wastewater Department determined that the industry met the criteria of Categorical Industrial User (CIU), as defined by the City of Brunswick & Glynn County Use Ordinance.  The draft IWP contain discharge limitations consistent with Brunswick-Glynn Ordinances and/or State and Federal industrial pretreatment categorical standards.  Each permit is for a five (5) year period.  The industry has been provided thirty (30) days to comment on the Draft IWP.  After receipt of comments, the Brunswick-Glynn Joint Water & Sewer Commission Wastewater Department will finalize each permit and issue it as a Final Permit to the industry.

Copies of the permits are available to be viewed by the public at the main office of the Brunswick-Glynn Joint Water & Sewer Commission, 1703 Gloucester Street, Brunswick, GA 31520.  The permits will be available for public review and comment between the hours of 9 AM and 3 PM, Monday through Friday, until June 24, 2016.  Any citizen interested in reviewing the draft permit and/or commenting on them may contact Angela Walker, Pretreatment Compliance Coordinator at Academy Creek Wastewater Department at 912-261-7143 to arrange a time for reviewing the permit.

Industrial Use Enforcement Response Plan

The Brunswick-Glynn Joint Water & Sewer Commission has approved an Enforcement Response Plan, pursuant to the Code of Federal Regulations, 40 CFR & 403.8(f)(5). The Enforcement Response Plan outlines the steps the Brunswick-Glynn Joint Water & Sewer Commission will follow in enforcing the regulations on permitted industrial users to the sewage treatment plants. The plan was approved by the Commission on May 5, 2016.

Canal Road Construction Update – May 13, 2016

In cooperation with Glynn County Board of Commissioners and contractors performing work in the area, the BGJWSC would like to provide the following update regarding future road closure on Canal Rd in Brunswick:

GLYNN COUNTY, Ga.- Contractors for the Brunswick-Glynn County Joint Water and Sewer Commission (JWSC) have been working to extend water and sewer along Canal Rd. in Brunswick since mid-April.  The overall scope of work is expected to continue through mid-September. As a part of this project, Canal Rd from Spur 25/Golden Isles Pkwy to Old Jesup Rd will be closed to through traffic from Wednesday, May 18th to the end of June.  Homeowner and local business access will be maintained, but all other traffic should be prepared to take another route.  For more information, contact the JWSC at (912) 261-7126.

In order to perform sewer main repairs in the area, Bayberry Circle on St. Simons Island off Colonial Dr will be closed to thru traffic from 7:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 18, 2016. Homeowner access will be maintained but all other traffic should be prepared to take another route.

In order to perform sewer main repairs in the area, the 400 block of Everett St on St. Simons Island, between Peachtree St and College St, will be partially closed to thru traffic from 7:00 a.m. on Monday, May 16, 2016 until 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 17, 2016. Homeowner access will be maintained but all other traffic should be prepared to take another route.
